The Nest Childbirth Education

Your schedule is busy but you don’t want to ignore your desire to learn all about the birth process, how to make decision in the moment, and how to prepare now for the new bundle you’re bringing home (or having at home!). At the Nest, we want your time to be well spent and so we have come up with a hybrid model of learning for you. The Confident Childbirth™ series will be offered in-person and online! What does this mean?

Four weeks of in-person learning

Who can sit through nearly two months of classes in uncomfortable plastic chairs?! These four weeks will be spent practicing hands-on techniques for preparing for labor, comfort + touch are an interactive technique and we want you to be well versed on the importance of movement for birth. You will also get to meet fellow birth travelers, trade stories, parent hacks, and more. Your time in-person will be active and engaged.

Online learning using Facebook groups

A new platform just for education from everyone’s favorite social media time suck. Marci will schedule regular live stream sessions, where you can participate from the comfort of your own home, in your pjs after work enjoying your dinner in an unhurried environment, and not miss any of the juicy details or live interviews she has planned. You’ll have the opportunity to ask questions, interact with classmates and refer back to the information for up to one year! This super private space will belong to your class group only, so feel open to sharing your new baby pics or helpful information you find.

Community +

If you aren’t already a Nest insider, this class will introduce you to all that is offered in this space! Pediatric + well-woman care, acupuncture for the ailments of pregnancy and beyond, and a new postpartum group for moms and babes in arms. Plus nutritional counseling, ceremonies, gatherings and more. You don’t want to miss what’s happening in this little house on Grand Ave.

Bringing this hybrid model to childbirth education is new and may have it’s hiccups, but isn’t this a good lesson for new parents too? We’ll roll with it together and make new friends in the process.

This class is open to all expecting families of the Palouse region in the 2nd + 3rd trimester. LGBTQIA+ are welcome. If you are planning a hospital birth, this class will help you navigate this experience as well. All people will be supported for their choice of birth location. We support births attended by licensed providers and can discuss in more detail what options are available on the Palouse if you are still seeking. The Nest Birth & Wellness is a licensed birth center in the state of Washington, with births attended by ViviAnne Fischer, MA, CPM, LM who attends birth at homes as well in Washington + Idaho.

Instructor | Marci Miller, CD(DONA), has been attending births both in hospitals and in homes on the Palouse since 2013. She is an avid supporter of patient rights, evidence-based care, and models of care that let the patients be an active member of the care team. She and her husband, Greg, own and operate Deep Roots Farm in Moscow and you may recognize her from 9 years at the Moscow Farmers Market selling organic produce and flowers.
